Artist's Statement

Pipa Cudahy

“Your paintings make me happy.”

This statement, made by a fellow artist after visiting my studio, made my heart sing.

This statement, made by a fellow artist after visiting my studio, made my heart sing.

I delight in feeling a deep personal connection to all of the creatures: winged, finned, scaled, furred, multi-legged, shelled, pouched, large and small and the contexts in which they exist. This happiness is reflected in the subjects I choose to draw, paint, and photograph.

I believe there is a connection between all animate and inanimate elements in the seen and unseen realities. Every one of these elements is equally valuable to every other and worthy of not just respect, but also of celebration.

My work strives to celebrate life as I know it in this reality and as I imagine it in other realities.

My happiness is expanded when I am able to share those realities visually with anyone who comes across my images and stops to consider. I invite you to connect with me online, by phone, or in my studio (by appointment). Here's to sharing ideas.
